The Teachers Pack provides information to support the study of Russell Maliphant Dance Company’s Silent Lines (2019) as part of the Pearson Btec Tech Award in Dance, AQA GCSE Dance, RSL Certificate in Performing Arts (Dance), GCE A Level Dance and Btec Level 3 Nationals Tech Levels and Applied Generals. It will also be useful for those studying dance at a range of other levels.
Each student workbook offers a way to DIG deeper into the piece. In workbook 1 the reader will discover additional information about the processes and methods used in the creation of the work and are encouraged to investigate these aspects so that students can in turn generate something for themselves that relates to that practice.
Workbook 2 contains information to help students appreciate the piece section by section encouraging them to discuss, improvise to create their own innovative ideas in relation to the piece and to grasp and appreciate the constituent features.
The resource as a whole contains biographies, case studies, quotes, interviews, worksheets, role and responsibilities, design concepts, choreographic influences, collaborations, creative tasks, choreographic characteristics and a comprehensive breakdown of each section of the work.
In this two part digital resource you will discover key information about the piece, an overview, section by section information, the collaborators, interviews, the processes, and the creative journey. You will deepen knowledge with warm up’s, links to video clips of extracts of repertoire, creative exploration tasks for teachers to work through with their dance students, as well as a variety of tasks that challenge students. All activities provide opportunities to deepen understanding and to make discoveries within the collaborations and the processes used. The tasks will encourage considered choreography, inspire creativity, and give dancers an opportunity to develop performance concepts. The descriptions of VORTEX in this resource are based on the filmed version of the work from its premier 30th September 2022 at DanceEast and this resource is offered as a companion to the online video recording.

This Digital Resource Pack has been designed as a guide for teachers and students – to provide information and insight to support the study of Russell Maliphant Dance Company’s Two (1998). The resource pack is split into Part One and Part Two.
PART ONE will give you key information about the piece, who the collaborators are, interviews with these collaborators, information on the processes and discussion on the creative journey.
