Together with our partners the Victoria Wood Foundation and The Foyle Foundation, RMDC has established the Dance Encounter Fund (DEF) which will provide subsidised workshops and tickets for young people across the UK.

DEF will enable us to make experiencing and engaging with live performance a reality for diverse young people, who might not otherwise have this opportunity.

We are working in partnership with our touring venues to identify and engage schools and colleges and reach out to harder to reach young people aged 25 years and under in up to ten cities across the UK. In addition to delivering workshops, we are in the process of creating educational tools and digital resources around the production which will be made available to participating schools and venues. This offer is suitable for learners at Key Stage 4 and beyond.

The DEF was launched in April 2022, in line with the tour of our first post-Covid production entitled “Vortex” inspired by the work of US abstract expressionist fine artist Jackson Pollock.

DEF provides a unique opportunity to diversify our audience and engage younger people. The programme will enable RMDC to strengthen our networks with venues and schools across the UK. Furthermore, we will deliver an artistic and civic contribution through education and community building in chosen locations across the UK.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, details are below.

How it works

At least some members of your group must be entitled to free school meals.

If your group is above school age, ticket cost should be considered to be a barrier to some of your group members attending a performance.

To request tickets, email info@russellmaliphant.com at least 3 weeks before the performance you would like to attend with the following information:

  • The date and venue of the show you would like to attend.

  • The total number of  tickets requested, including all young people and accompanying adults.

  • Name and address of your school or organisation.

  • A contact telephone number and email address that is in your name wherever possible.

  • Please assign a second adult that can be copied into correspondence and can take the trip forward in your absence wherever possible.

Once we receive your email, we will pencil in your booking and your requested number of tickets will be held while you organise the trip and gain permissions from students and parents / carers.

Please then contact us again to confirm final numbers as soon as possible and no later than one week before the performance.

Your booking will then be fully confirmed and you will receive an email to let you know.

If we do not receive final numbers or any contact from you by one week before the performance, your booking will be cancelled.

If you have any questions or you would like any further information please email info@russellmaliphant.com
