Vortex
Inspired by the works and process of Jackson Pollock and the Abstract Expressionists, choreographer Russell Maliphant brings to audiences his new work VORTEX.
Oliver Award winning choreographer Maliphant paints his own inspired work with movement, light, shadow & sound to create a visually rich and resonant journey with the exceptional dancers of Russell Maliphant Dance Company (RMDC) and collaborators Ryan Stafford (lighting design) Katya Richardson (music) and Stevie Stewart (costume design).
RMDC was established in 1996 as the framework for Maliphant to create productions with artists and collaborators and to work with his own chosen ensemble of dancers. Since that time, the company has received two Olivier awards, three South Bank Show awards and four Critics’ Circle National Dance awards for best modern choreography, amongst many other national and international awards and nominations.
VORTEX is co-commissioned by Sadler’s Wells, London and supported by Arts Council England, DanceEast, Cockayne, The London Community Foundation, Ipswich Borough Council, and The Foyle Foundation.
